Step into Horse Trekking Farm Miurakaigan, only 10 minutes from Miurakaigan Station in Kanagawa, Japan. We offer horseback riding experiences on the long stretch of Miurakaigan Beach, a sandy beach with gentle ocean breeze under the wide sky! We can tailor it to a beach walk for beginners or a beach gallop for experienced riders. In summer we also offer special riding activities that allow you to jump into the ocean and ride bareback horses! Come and create the one and only memories in Japan!

Ocean Horseback Riding

This is our most popular activity that is only offered during summer season (June to September). You will first depart from our farm on the horseback for a quick town walk down to the ocean, then our guides will remove the saddle and help you dive into the ocean on the horse, bareback of course. You will get to ride the waves with horses, hold on to the horse’s tail, have a relaxed time on the horse’s back and of course, give it a try of running in the water! You do not want to miss this!

Private/customized activities

We also provide private/customized beach riding activities per request. If you would like to have a private event for your family, friends, couples or yourself, feel free to reach out to us over email and let us know. On top of the riding activity, if you would like to have a private tour around the local Miura town or around Riding Facilities in Japan to explore. We have a licenced tour guide available but please give us an advanced notice if possible.
The price will start from 50,000 JPY~ on the weekdays and 80,000JPY~ on the weekend.

English-Speaking Guided Tour

If you would like an English-speaking guide during your ride, we can provide one for an additional fee of 5,000 JPY per person per session.
Additionally, if we determine prior to confirming your booking that communication during the ride may be challenging (especially for the beach galloping course), we may recommend adding an interpreter guide for your convenience and safety.

Important Notes Regarding Reservations

• Photos and videos for all courses will be taken by our staff.
• All prices are per person. If you would like to switch riders during the course, please consult with us in advance.
• Reservations can be made once available dates are shown on the availability calendar below.
• The listed course time refers to the total time from leaving the clubhouse to returning to the clubhouse. This includes the riding time to and from the beach, and does not refer only to the time spent riding on the beach.
• The Beach Horse Trekking Course departs at 10:00 AM for the morning session and 2:00 PM for the afternoon session.
• The Ocean Horseback Riding Course departs at 10:00 AM for the morning session and 1:30 PM for the afternoon session.
• Please arrive 30 minutes before the departure time.
• If you are running late, please be sure to contact us. Please note that if you arrive too late to complete the necessary preparations before departure, you may not be able to ride.
• Cancellation fees will apply from 5 business days before your scheduled visit.
• For safety reasons, children of elementary school age or younger will be accompanied by staff. Therefore, even if they have riding experience, the beginner rate will apply.
• For safety reasons, pregnant guests and guests with medical conditions such as epilepsy are not permitted to ride.
• During the summer season, only the Ocean Horseback Riding Course is available. The Beach Horse Trekking Course is not offered during this period due to the high risk of heatstroke for both horses and riders. The exact period may vary each year, but it is usually from late June to late September.
• For the Ocean Horseback Riding Course, whether a rider is classified as a beginner or experienced is determined by their actual riding level, not by whether they have previously experienced this course.
• Whips, spurs, and waist pouches are not allowed on any course.
• If you would like to bring any personal items, please leave them with our staff before riding.
• As a general rule, reservations must be made by 5:00 PM on the day before your preferred date.
• Please note that the availability calendar may not always reflect the latest status due to system limitations. For the most accurate availability, please contact us by phone.
• Please be sure to bring your health insurance card when visiting our farm.
• The routes used for our horse trekking courses include public roads and open public areas, where local residents and other visitors may also be present. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of our guests, as well as the safety of the general public, we have strict standards regarding cantering during horse trekking. Thank you for your understanding.
• If the email address entered in the reservation form is incorrect, we may not be able to contact you or send your reservation confirmation email. Please check your email address carefully before submitting the form.
• If you do not receive a reservation confirmation email within 3 days after submitting your application, your reservation has not been confirmed. In that case, please contact us.
• For safety reasons, please enter your weight accurately in the reservation form. If false information is provided, we may refuse service on the day of your visit.

Cancellation Policy

• Once your reservation has been confirmed, cancellation fees will apply according to the number of business days remaining before your scheduled visit.
• Please note that cancellation fees apply regardless of the reason if the cancellation is made due to the customer’s circumstances.
• From 5 business days before to 5:00 PM, 4 business days before your visit
  30% of the riding fee
• From after 5:00 PM, 4 business days before to 5:00 PM on the day before your visit
  50% of the riding fee
• From after 5:00 PM on the day before your visit to the scheduled riding time on the day of your visit
  100% of the riding fee
• Cancellation fees will not apply only if our farm determines that the ride must be cancelled due to bad weather or other safety concerns, and we contact you to inform you of the cancellation.
• We generally ride on rainy days too. We have shower and changing facilities available for guests after riding, so you can enjoy the experience comfortably even if you get wet.
• Also, the weather in your area may differ from the weather at Miura Beach. Please do not cancel based only on your own judgment. If you are unsure about the weather, please be sure to contact the farm first.
• If you cancel on the day of your visit based on your own judgment, the cancellation fee will apply.

Weather, sea conditions and changes to the ride

Sea conditions (wave height and wind) keep changing until the last moment, so they usually cannot be judged the day before or that morning. The content of the ride may therefore be changed on the day.

• We contact you in advance to cancel only when the ride is clearly impossible (for example: an approaching typhoon, heavy rain or storm warnings, lightning, or winds too strong to ride safely). We will call or email you the evening before or on the morning of the ride. No cancellation fee applies.
• We generally ride on rainy days too. If we judge that the ride is really not possible, we will contact you to cancel. If some form of the ride is still possible, we will go ahead without contacting you. The weather in Miura Kaigan may differ from your area, so please contact the farm rather than deciding on your own if you are unsure.
• If you have not heard from us, the ride goes ahead. When we judge that the ride can go ahead, we will do our best to make it comfortable for you, including on rainy days. Our staff will check the conditions and advise you after you arrive.
• If the waves are too high or a high-wave warning is in effect so that we cannot safely enter the sea, or if conditions change during the ride, we will change to something that can be done safely (for example, switching to another walking route without going into the sea or along the water’s edge).
• We will tell you the fee for the changed ride on the day, before it starts. It will never be more than your booked fee.
• If, after arriving, you choose not to take part in the changed ride, it is treated as a cancellation and the cancellation fee is the same as the fee for the changed ride.
• If we have not contacted you to cancel and you decide to cancel or not to come because of the weather, the usual cancellation policy applies (100% of the riding fee from 17:00 the day before).

The year 2024 will also mark the 20th anniversary of the opening of our facility. Although we are now the third generation of owners since our establishment, our desire to bring smiles with our lovely horses to all visitors to this scenic and beautiful Miura area has not changed. In these past 20 years, we are greatful for our wonderful and gentle horses have been nourished and encouraged by the happiness from people who came to visit. As the 3rd generation owner, we believe it is our role to further spread the word to as many people as possible about the wonderfulness and fulfilment of spending time with horses, and to create a foundation that will allow the horses to spend their time with us humans with even greater happiness.
